Hold the phone people!

My daughter has her first pimple.

Although it may be tiny {but not to her} it is her first and what kind of blogger momma would I be if I didn't write about it.

I'm trying to figure out if I want to cry, feel old, or rush out and buy face wash.

I'm leaning toward feeling old.

She's leaning toward crying.

Either way, there will be drama.

picky, picky. {Or alternatly titled "another reason my husband thinks I'm crazy"}

In our house, Hubby and I have to see most movies first before we allow our kids to watch it. Movies that are supposed to be geared towards children are crammed full of cursing, innuendos, violence and scary creatures that can give my kids nightmares for weeks. And since the directors, writers and producers are not volunteering to come over to my house to walk with my child outside to the trash can because they're too scared to go alone, Hubby and I must pre-approve said movie.

Moving right along.

So we had both watched Avatar and deemed it okay for the kids. Although we did have a chat first about loin cloths and worshiping a false God and they did have to close their eyes in a few parts with some freaky alien dog/cat, but other than that it's pretty good. In fact the previewes before hand were way worse.

But those things I could live with. No, the two things that bothered the living daylights out of me are as follows:

a) Unobtainium. The precious metal that the earthlings were battling the avatar's for. Un-obtain-ium. Okay is it just me or did they let a six year old name this? Really? Someone got paid for coming up with this word? Why not "sure-wish-we-could-have-some-too-atanium" or "Hard-to-get-to-atanium". Lame.

b) Papyrus. The font they chose for the subtitles when the avatar's are speaking. James Cameron spent $500 million dollars on this movie and the best font he could come up with is papyrus? If I can find papyrus in my drop down box of fonts on my computer it is not cool enough. For $500 million, they should have come up with a font so amazing, so cool, so unbelievably awesome that it has it's own copyright and gives people pure joy tingles just to look at it. Double lame.

Hubby thinks I'm insane. Which is not a new development. His words were something like "there were ground breaking special effects and all you have to say is that the metal has a stupid name and the font is bad? We were we watching the same movie?"

I guess it's all about expectations. If the budget had been $300 dollars, well then, hey, great work. But. . .

So if you have not seen it yet, you now have me to thank when all you can see is stupid font and a metal with a lame name. You're welcome.

Go back about 40 more years

Last night we were watching "It's a wonderful life", one of my all time favorite movies. My youngest walked by and so I patted the seat next to me and said come snuggle. He sat down, looked at the tv and said, "I don't like this. I don't like movies made in the 80's".

1940's. 1980's. It's all the same to a seven year old.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus!

Christmas is so much more fun when you're a parent. I love hearing those little feet padding into our room when it's still dark outside and hearing their little voices say "Get up! It's Christmas!"
The look on their faces as they open up gifts and the joy when it's exactly what they wanted. I love the sounds and smells and hugs and laughter and hope it never ends. Even when they're older. I want to cherish every minute because someday they'll stop waking us up so early and I want to remember it all just like this. Because now their still small and their tiny hands still fit snugly into mine and they still make cute little cards for me to open on Christmas day with words spelled wrong and I wouldn't want it any other way. So coffee in hand, a little bleary eyed and with all the joy in my heart, I say Merry Christmas to you! May you feel God's love.

{we're not done yet?}

We celebrated Christmas with my family in Colorado and it feels like Christmas should be over.

But it's not.

And it feels weird.

I guess I should be excited to celebrate it multiple times, for example with my fam, Hubby's fam and our kids at home. But it's really throwing me off.

Upside: All shopping is done.

Downside: All shopping is done. Because I really like to shop. A lot.

So what do I do with myself now? I can't bake. I already need to stop eating for like. . . forever. Eggnog is not without it's consequences.

Guess I'll go shake some more presents. Because December is taking a really long time.

I might need an intervention

Is it possible to overdose on baby smell? If it is I think I may need help.

I had the awesome pleasure of seeing my brother, his wife and their {5} kiddos when we all met in Colorado for Christmas. We had so much fun! Their youngest is 7 weeks old and I could not put him down. Apart from those times when my daughter used her very best whiny voice along with pleading eyes for me to hand him over. I truly don't think there is any better smell on the planet than a new baby. It makes my uterus do back flips. Yet I maintain my stance of "three is enough". Even though I had to listen to my kids beg for one more. Some people may not think 33 is old, but I do not want to start all over again at ground zero. I'll just enjoy the sweet face of baby Jett and get my fill with him.

They also have two beautiful girls, and I mean really gorgeous, and two other little boys who happen to melt my heart as well. In order they are Laney, Chloe, Elijah, Isaac and Jett. Yummy.

On my side of the family, Aliya is the oldest. Much to her unending delight. So she loves that the girls wanted to follow her around and was able to talk them into making up and performing a dance with her to a Taylor Swift song. {that we may have heard around 17 times} Do you remember doing that when you were a kid? Now I'm the parent watching! So weird.

And my very sweet sister-in-law Sarah {helped/may have done the whole thing} put a new header on my blog! As well as took the picture. What a talented super mom! Her blog is beyond cute and she's pretty stinkin' funny too. Check her out here. You will be amazed at her photography skills.

The week went way too fast and I'll be paying for the mass quantities of food I ate for a long, long while. My mom's rolls are to die for.

We were really hoping it would snow while were there, but we had to make do with what was on the ground. I'm saying it like I know. I pretty much spent all my time inside holding a yummy baby. I'm the aunt so I can spoil. And much spoiling was had. But my super fun hubby spent hours outside with the kids making a pretty cool snow fort. That I observed from a distance. Through my camera lens. I did make the hot chocolate for them when they came in though. That has to count for something.

So to all you people out there who take for granted that your family lives near you, just think of me. Suffering these awful withdrawals from baby smell and take a moment of silence. I may not survive.
