From Youngest to Oldest

We had a wonderful Christmas in Colorado! A few days before we left there was a big blizzard and they got 3 feet of snow. At first we were concerned about not being able to leave when we wanted to. But we headed out and although we had to go slow the nearer to Denver we got, the roads were pretty cleared by the time we got there. The kids loved seeing their cousins Laney, Chloe and Elijah. They haven't seen them for a year and we had never seen Elijah.
They wanted to go out into the snow first thing and it was quite the undertaking to get them out the door! We're used to flip-flops and tank tops. We had to put on layer after layer and by the time you get them all bundled up their ready to come back in!
The adults made an awesome snow fort and we helped the kids make a snowman. Our dog was very afraid of him and kept barking at it! He finally got the nerve to get close enough to jump up and steal his carrot nose.
On Thurday of Christmas week Jason, myself, Sarah and Mike all went skiing in Loveland. It was so beautiful and COLD! It was Sarah's first time skiing and I kept praying that it wouldn't snow but God had other plans. It snowed like crazy! Poor Sarah, having to learn on a day like that! Once Jay and I rented some goggles we were fine against the stinging cold and had so much fun. The snow falling made everything so quiet and although it was freezing, it was my favorite experience skiing so far. It only took us 55 minutes to get up there and three and half hours to get home! There were people off to the sides of the road everywhere and lots of accidents. We just kept praying and we finally made it home. Mamaw and Papa and Aunt Sheri watched all the kids that day and were very worn out by the end!
My mom (a.k.a. Mamaw) made the house look beautiful with all the decorations and she baked up a storm. The house smelled so good and there was so much fabuous food! She had crafts for the kids to do and planned special outings. We went to see the botanical gardens light show one night and it was amazing! I could not imagine a more beautiful, fun, and Christmasy thing to do. The kids were cold but they really enjoyed it too. Our son Dylan kept crying and saying his feet were cold. Finally after about an hour of his whining we pulled off his boots to discover that he didn't have any socks on! Poor guy!
It was so nice to spend a whole week with my brother and his family and my parents and sister. We played countless games and laughed until we hurt. It was truly a Christmas to remember.

The Corley Family

Well, this is my first attempt at doing a blog or anything like it. I love to look at my friends' and family's sites and thought I'd give it a try!
Our little family is doing great and changing everyday!
I (Sheila) have started nursing school officially and am loving it so far! (Ask me again around finals...) Jason just returned from Rwanda and had a great experience. He set his recorder on the window sill while he was getting ready one morning and the sounds he captured were amazing. Exactly how you would think of the rain forest sounding. He was taken to a memorial they set up for the Holocaust survivors and was able to hear stories about what it was like then.
He sets off for another country next month and I'll keep you updated.
Aliya is in second grade and doing fabulous! She gets A's and is the head of her class in reading. She's also a little socialite. Always wanting to spend the night somewhere or have friends over. She got a phone for her room for Christmas and is making sure it doesn't go to waste! We tease her that she's 7 going on 17! She also starts cheerleading on the 29th and is looking forward to that.

Dylan will be 6 next month and is looking forward to his Star Wars party. We're hoping to get him into soccer; there was a mixup when I signed him up for it. He's crazy athletic and loves all things sports. He's also very into daddy right now and thinks he hung the moon. It's a little sad for mommy but I'm holding up okay. :-) He also loves school and his teacher said he's her model student. He's made quite a few friends so far and still thinks girls are iky, which is fine by me!

Daymon is also hoping to start soccer and says that he does not need help from Dylan! He's now 4 and had a great time having mom all to himself this past semester. He's our little chunky monkey. Full little cheeks you just want to grab and pinch! He loves to draw (just like his big sister and brother) and loves to play computer games. He's also the closest to our dog, Dusty, and will say he misses him when we go to the store. He's also our sensitive one and will cry if someone gets into trouble. But don't his toy away because he can hold his own!
