You're about to feel some pressure

My dear sweet hubby had sinus surgery yesterday. I told him one of my favorite rotations in nursing school was the PACU. Post anaesthesia care unit. It's super fun watching people wake up from general anaesthesia and he didn't see why. In fact, it took him a bit to fully understand that he was having actual surgery. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing him, he's a brilliant man, but I think he thought "it's just my nose", and therefore didn't think it would entail an IV and going completely under. He's not a big fan of shots or needles so the IV thing threw him for a loop. I told him he would have been better prepared for it had he let me practice starting them on him when I was in school. Clearly I could have banished his fears.

So when I was able to see him again he was chatting with his nurse about pac-man. On the way home our conversation went something like this:

Hubby: How could they let me leave so soon? I need to still be in the hospital.

Me: I'm sorry baby, I'll get you home and you'll feel. . .

Hubby: I do not like this at all! What's going on?!

Me: Are you in pain or do you just feel weird?

Hubby: What? AAHHH! What is going on?

Me: Put your head back, try to relax. . .

Hubby: {stroking my arm} you're the best wife ever.

Me: thank you, I. . .

Hubby: No really, I scored, I told them all that. Think about it.

Me: Think about what?

Hubby: What?

Me: Let's go drop off your presc. . .

Hubby: AAHHH! Is this gonna last forever?

Me: No, but it will last a few more hours, do you. . .

Hubby: I really did, think of a list of a good wife. Feeds my kids? Check. Takes care of me? Check. Cleans the house? Check. {insert things I cannot blog} Check.

Me: Well thanks baby, I scored too, lets get you home, are you. . .

Hubby: This is not right, I don't feel right.

Me: Are you in pain?

Hubby: Pac-man is 30.

I can tell you our conversation went on this way for a good hour and then I put him safely in bed and he was out like a light. Narcotics rock.

Poor guy. It will all be worth it when he can breathe well though. And I always love hearing about how great a wife I am. Dolls out pain meds and kisses like candy? Check.

Mothers Day

What I wanted for mothers day.

What hubby got me for mothers day.

It was actually a practical joke. He had me going for a while. "But it has dangly things on it and words, just like you said." but then said that the site stated it would take up to six weeks to ship so he figured I should just order it so it would be exactly what I wanted. Silly man. Although I'm not against vampires per say, I don't really want to wear a necklace that says I heart them. He told me later he got it out of the dollar bin.

And my kiddos made lots of adorable things at school for me including coupons for back rubs and hugs and I was informed that they never expire.

I got an iced mocha, my favorite coffee drink and we went to a friends house and smam and soaked up the sun and ate yummy food on a patio filled with flowers in bloom. It was a perfect day. I was hugged countless times without even having to ask and doted on by my sweet sweet kids.

My kids think that mothers day is all about making mom happy. For me it's just an extension of every other day because they fill me with joy all year round. But I'll gladly take the extra hugs . . .and the iced mocha.

my car is making me fat

It's the most terrifying time of year again and I made the most ghastly mistake of all. I tried on my bathing suit. I know, I know I don't know what I was thinking either. Clearly I was in some sort of chocolate induced haze and momentarily lost my senses.

So it's time to do something about it. And by "it" I mean the vat of cellulite circling my thighs. For a while we had a truce going. I would ignore "it" and "it" would hide under jeans without saying a peep. Until about a month ago and "it" broke our deal while I was trying on a pair of oh so cute low rise bling jeans and "it" would simply not keep quiet.

Fine then.

I waph plannph on exerphising aphyway. {sorry my mouth was full. I was planning on exercising anyway.}

And clearly this predicament is not my fault. It's my car's fault. It's like it's on auto pilot for the Dunkin' Donut's down the street. Weird.

Now where did I put that bike?

Who are you and what have you done with my kid?

Species: Believed to be human although not ruling out the possibility of alien possession.

Gender: Male.

Weight: 63 pounds.

This photograph was taken upon stumbling across this rare creature. I was afraid my camera click would startle it resulting in the conclusion of it's activity, however it seemed to be so enthralled it barley noticed me. It appears to be a nine year old male reading a rather large book. Actually it appears to be my nine year old male.

My findings are rather spectacular and providing me with such large amounts of joy that I fear even blogging this could jinx it from continuing. However, since I'm not at all superstitious and since it's possible that he's really an alien, I'm holding out hope that room cleaning is on the horizon.

It's those sweet little moments

As Aliya and I were making rice crispy treats, and when I say we I mean me, she was making her own "marshmallow cream" which is her smooshing a marshmallow with her fingers until there is only goo, Daymon came in with a rock he wanted to show me. He get's really excited about his ability to "find cool rocks" so I said "wow, that's awesome!" He then gave it to me and was off to more important boy things.

Aliya: It wouldn't really matter what we do, you would still say awesome, admit it.

Me: No, I think everything my kids do is awesome.

Aliya: What if I pooped on the carpet or tooted on you?

Me: yeah, not that. That would not be awesome.

Another touching mother-daughter moment for your reading pleasure. Try not to cry.
