And then are those dads.
You know the kinds.
The kind that will eat worms just because his kids dare him to. Or drive a hundred miles out of the way to make a memory on a road trip because the memory is what counts not the time or money. Or do random experiments in the kitchen with his kids because experiments are fun. The kind of dad who build sweet forts in the living room and then sleep with his kids in them or insist that tents can be set up and slept in all year round in the back yard. The kind of dad who takes boats out into the middle of lakes at midnight because that's where the best stars can be seen or dance with their daughters in the middle of movie theaters because it's date night and who cares if people watch. The kinds of dads who fully grasp that childhood is fleeting and cherishing every moment is vital. That capturing a little boy's heart is the most important thing right now. And no kid is too big for a bear hug. That a girl's first love is her daddy. That the way a child will view God is the way they view their father.
I'm still amazed that I'm blessed enough that hubby is one of those.
When it comes to this dad stuff he pretty much knocks it out of the park.
He far exceeds the expectations I had for the father of my children, and believe me, they were high.
